About SSRI

Health Through Physical Activity

SSRI is a non-profit organization sanctioned and funded by Fulton County and corporate contributions, advised by a volunteer board of directors and a professional staff dedicated to revitalizing the Sandy Springs residential and business community with a focus on the Roswell Road corridor and the Overlay Business District.

Sandy Springs Revitalization, Inc, (SSRI) along with the Sandy Springs Business Association, the Sandy Springs Conservancy, Keep Sandy Springs/North Fulton Beautiful, Heritage Sandy Springs and Leadership Sandy Springs have been working for years to improve the quality of life in Sandy Springs by upgrading the Roswell Road Streetscape, promoting economic development, preserving neighborhoods, building sidewalks, improving traffic patterns, planting trees, creating or preserving greenspace and planning for a more sustainable community.

This year SSRI added a Healthy Community standing committee as a new component of the plan to make the community a better place to live, work, play and learn. The GreenTour is a major part of that agenda. In partnership with the organizations listed in our Partner Section, SSRI will also organize a series of programs designed to promote bicycle and pedestrian activity throughout Sandy Springs with connectivity to surrounding parts of North Metro Atlanta.

Sidewalks, Bike Lanes And Connectivity

Funds raised through the GreenTour will be used to support some of the health, environmental and environmental health initiatives of our Sandy Springs GreenTour partners that are aimed at making Sandy Springs a cleaner/greener urban/suburban community. As more sidewalks and bicycle lanes are built and/or designated with signs, maps for safe bicycle and pedestrian routes created – residents, the business community and visitors will be able to ride a bike, walk/jog/run more safely between neighborhoods and to the business corridor. That’s a big part of the GreenTour agenda – to encourage cycling or pedestrian activity by creating programs and infrastructure that provide a healthy alternative to a more sedentary lifestyle while benefiting the environment too.
